Blog Templates Resources
A pretty nice website with Blogger templates, really well-ranked by Google. Even though there’s nothing special about the design of the website itself the designs of blog templates presented there are quite good-looking. Every visitor may add his design to the website, but currently there are not too many blog templates available (actually that is why it is difficult to say how often the collection is updated). On the other hand the good thing is that everything available is free (even different useful gadgets that you can use for your blog Widgets, Podcasts, Music gadget etc).
A website with only a gallery of blog templates without any add-ons or anything like that. Not really of brilliant design, but does contain some interesting works. Those works are free to download for everyone. At the same time there are very few of those designs (12). Nevertheless it is well-ranked by Google. No info considering updates or uploads is available on the website.
A website with linkware Blogger templates (which means they are free but for using them you must keep the link to the author). All of the templates are conducted by one author (a man who calls himself Caz as you can see in the domain name of the website). Actually this fact explains why there is so few of those templates available (even though they are also free). But it is worth saying that they are of pretty good design and the website is well-ranked by Google.
Also quite a simple website with not too many designs. But those that are there are well-designed and easy to use and modify. They are also arranged by categories (“2-Column-” and “3-Column-templates”, “Modern”, “Simple”) which makes it easier to browse and to search for the one you need. The blog templates from this website are free. At the same time the bad thing is that sometimes the same template is displayed in two categories.
A really nice-looking website with a pleasant and relaxing design. Comparatively large number of blog templates arranged in a list. It also seems that the templates collection is updated quite often (also comparatively). In general this is a good resource if to judge integrally by several parameters. Especially good it appears because of the availability of the designs as they are free.
Another simple site with a set of simple but interesting designs. Once again there’s not too many templates there and even those that are there are mostly the same with the color scheme changed. On the other hand it was really nice to see those bright and colorful designs with slight motives of childishness. We can recommend those blog templates for arranging your own blog (especially because they are free 🙂
A good resource with some number of good WordPress blog templates. Even though there’s not too much of templates there I’m sure they also have their one and only customer. Most of the templates there are free but there is a couple for sale. Those that are free are 2-column templates and the 3-columners are for sale ($15). All of the products are designed by one author who simultaneously is an editor-in-chief and admin of the website.
This website has a good collection of WordPress themes and it seems (at least after the first look) that this collection is updated regularly. The website even has the “Recently Added” section which is actually the author’s attempt to make you think that everything presented is fresh and new. To some extent it is as approximately once a month several new designs are added. It might be caused by the fact that there’s only one author there (we were unable to find out that). But after all the good thing is that there’s a lot of designs available and they are quite elegantly designed.
The first thing to say is that I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there are really 84 templates (and not 83 as it is mentioned in the title). The other nice thing about it is that all of those blog templates are worth some attention. All of the designs are free and at the same time not too much similar to each other (as it often happens with blog engines themes).
A really interesting resource with a set of some unusual blog templates. As you can see from the title those are so-called minimalist themes. The unusual thing about them is that they do not contain lots of images and are mostly white. It really is worth attention as minimalism is considered one of the design schools and it is always interesting to see something art-like. Besides from the functional point of view those templates are quite good and seem to work without any difficulties.
Solely a gallery of 113 free and quite a bit well-designed WordPress blog templates, with no unnecessary descriptions, no text and no comments. You only choose the one you want and download it. There is something is this process – it’s like you’re in supermarket where you choose anything (and not in a small store where there’s always a clerk watching 🙂
A great, really great website with an enormous collection of WordPress themes. According to the info of the website there are almost 900 WordPress blog templates presented. Which is actually easy to explain as anyone can add their designs to the database. It is also obvious that not all of those designs are really good-looking, that is why there is a section of “Top Downloaded templates”.
Another nice resource with a comparatively rich collection of WordPress themes. As far as it is possible to understand all of those are designed by one person (someone who also calls himself a weird name – “Small Potato”). Nevertheless the designs seem to be nice and once again according to the site’s info there’s around 40 of them.
Not really a rich collection of templates but after all no one said that it’s about quantity. Those that are there are elegantly designed and quite functional. At the moment they are all free but for some reason there is a “price” section which means they might become non-free later. But, we never know. Oh, and there is also a customization option available (for a fee, naturally).
Another simple collection of WordPress blog templates (the website itself is quite a bit minimalistic but after all the design is not the most important thing here). The designs are often the same as previous but with some elements added. There’s not too many of them but they can be used for some blogs. All of around 30 designs are free to download.
The first thing that differs this website from others providing WordPress themes is that there are no thumbnail previews (you directly go to live demo from the templates list). This kinda affects your attitude towards the resource itself as a whole. But at the same time the designs are sometimes interesting (by the way there’s 52 of them). Even more interesting they are because of freeware downloading possibility 🙂
A good resource with lots of designs available for free downloading (according to the website’s info there’s 251 of them). The other good thing is that this website contains not only free WordPress blog templates but also some materials for making your website more successful and popular (like SEO links etc.). This resource is actually a community which means that anyone can contribute his own template to the collection (this explains the large number of designs available).
Another community resource of Word Press templates and that is why it starts to become difficult to find something that would differ it from the others. The good thing is that due to the community status there really is a great variety of designs available and those designs are really worth the attention (see the slideshow below). And of course those templates are free to be downloaded by anyone.
The resource that claims to have anything for blogging professionals. To some extend it really has something but when it comes to the WordPress themes available it becomes not so simple. The thing is that in the “Themes” section it only refers you to other websites that contain blog templates. Of course this is not the worst variant but it is kinda inconvenient as you have to go through several links (3 steps minimum) to see the template and maybe to download it.
A good resource with a big collection of MySpace layouts. According to the website’s info there are 15403 ready-made designs and there are 27 design categories. All of them are free, you get the code that you have to paste. In addition to the designs there are also other sections with different useful features (MySpace Editor, Pimp Your Cell and sections for other engines).
Another place to go for those who search for a wide assortment of MySpace layouts. It’s difficult to estimate how many of them are available there (there’s no info considering this on the website) but there are tens of design categories which allows to predict the big variety. Of course the layouts are free, you get the code of the one you need and paste it into the “About Me” section of your MySpace account.
The layouts here differ a little from the ones at other resources. The ones that are here might be less colorful but on the other hand they are more elegant and creative (although the colorful ones are also available). What also differs are the categories. You have to agree that not every website has “Christmas Layouts” or “Basketball Layouts”.
As you can see from the domain name the website is kinda girl-oriented. The designs are mostly pink and “girly” (which is proved by the category names like “Butterflies” and “Sexy Guys”). Although there surely are non-girly ones among 5612 designs available. The “shipping” scheme is the same: you choose the one you need, get the code and paste it where needed.
A community MySpace themes resource which means many categories and many designs. But at the same time the community status means that not all of the layouts are worth your attention. Nothing special about this resource but it still has something to be loved for as there are not only designs available but also different blogging tools too.
Also a resource with some funny categories (like “Easter”, “Playboy” and “Rap and R&B”). Also very many designs available and you will surely have something to choose from. In order for you not to get lost there is a section of “Top Layouts”? with the most popular ones. As you can guess the procedure is always the same: choose -> get the code.
This is a resource with nothing special about the TextPattern templates. As a matter of fact those templates are the only good thing available there. Of course there are several additional sections at the website but they are of little use. The design of the website itself is also quite simple but the templates presented are worth attention. They are free to download and were submitted to the website by different authors.
As the authors claim in the “About” section, “This is a central repository of downloadable TextPattern layout themes.” Or course “repository” may sound a little too much optimistic as there are only 84 designs available at the moment but the website is quite a bit new and has all the chances to succeed in near future. The designs are also free and contributed by different authors.
Officially a journal of a philosophy of some kind but for some reason there are some TextPattern themes available for downloading. There are only nine of them but they look pretty nice and may be useful for you (you will see most of those nine in the slideshow). Nothing else to say as the website is indeed erratic 🙂
Without a doubt there are several pretty good-looking designs there. But the bad thing is that they are available only in case you use the domain registration services of this company (by the way pretty good offers). Generally it”s a company that provides hosting services for bloggers.
Some default templates from the founding fathers of MovableType – SixApart.com . All of those templates are available in .txt format, this is basically an HTML code of the designs. There are Index Templates, Archive Templates and System templates. Of course this is a little bit frustrating that there are no thumbnail previews available.
Also a resource with no previews (which once again doesn’t make me feel happy). But on the other hand there are more designs available here than on SixApart.com and there is also a section of Blog Modules where you get the code of different search boxes, banners, footers and navigation. All of the templates and modules are only available in a form of a code.
It took me some time and efforts to find the LiveJournal layouts section at this website. It’s not that I’m stupid (even though you might think I am), it’s just that this website has so many ads and particularly “ads by Google” boxes that it really confuses you. But still there are some nice LiveJournal layouts there (9 items) and they look well designed. See it yourself.
This is a collection of “recommended” LiveJournal layouts gathered basically on one of the LiveJournal.com projects. These links refer you to different websites with designs (mostly to Panda-Nuggets.livejournal.com). The designs are mostly of “childish” style but even so they can surely have their fans.
A nice resource with some good designs available. Even though the website itself is quite simple in its design and there are no many templates there they can still be attractive (at least because they are free). They are all designed by different authors. The procedure is actually the same as anywhere else – you choose the layout you like and get the code.
Now this one has pleased me with a decent variety of designs available. Maybe not all of them are gorgeous but still there is something to choose out. This is also a community resource where the layouts are added by different authors. You may download them in a ZIP format and which is also convenient there are thumbnail previews available.
This one is a kinda a universal resource for bloggers. There are not only LiveJournal layouts there but also the designs for other engines (MySpace for example). It also has wallpapers and avatars which can also be useful for you in case you are a blogger. The bad thing is that the website is obviously very young and has only 4 LiveJournal templates in its gallery.
