Uncle Arthur’s Fatal Eighteen Web Design Problems

The worst mistakes of any design for a webpage are many but this list of mistakes shows you the real fatalities. Any one of these can hurt or finish your website with visitors or customers - so proceed with caution dear reader as we look into the crypts of certain webpage death.

- Nasty Color Schemes - Some pages irritate the viewer’s eyeballs and they simply have to move on, leaving you to twist, alone in your agony.

- Spelling & Grammar Problems - If you want to spell out A-M-A-T-E-U-R to your viewers don’t check the spelling and grammar.

- Poor Font Style and Size - Go ahead, just leave it dorky, nice big goofy website right? Rigghhhht!

- Freakout Music - Feeling dramatic are we??? Well, if you take it out on your visitors’ eardrums guess who’s drama turns into a tragedy?

- Didn’t Test the Website - Didn’t want to see how your website looks in all the browsers? This is a very strong hint from Uncle Arthur now!

- Ugly Layout and Design - Just cause you like to look at fecal waste films doesn’t mean any of your visitors would enjoy that particular motif. Have just a little good taste here!

- Non-Standard Links - So you like to jazz everything up and keep people guessing? Different types and colors for your links? Wheeeeeee! Holiday for airheads.

- Stupid Navigation - Yeeaaah! Moving targets and trailing crap! Unlabelled floating objects with no links mixed with other floating objects with hidden navigation links! What sport!

- Slow Loading Pages - Better design a super interesting load meter, right? So people can watch you load that mammoth onto their computer? It’s like watching the Titanic - and your sinking.

- Stupid Texts - Didn’t put your words in the right order? - “Content is King.” Some visitors and spiders are really stupid too. Huh?

- No New Content - If there is no new content then the visitors and search engines no longer need to visit your website (Hint, Hint)

- Too Many Clicks - What if your visitors don’t like to click on page after page to get to what they are looking for? Well, that’s just real tough stuff for them isn’t it?

- Hidden Contact Information - Playing hard to get? Yes, you’re special, very special, in a fatal kind of way.

- Bad Hosting Services - Well, some people like hard to remember URLs and cheap looking webistes.

- Loads of Ads - Keeping a forest of ads looks very professional, doesn’t it? It lets the visitor know you can’t make any money with your ads and that your website can’t just provide information or a service.

- Poor Images - Don’t mind if visitors see your ugly pictures? Leave ‘em different sizes, poor quality, badly cropped, too small or too large file size, etc.

- Website Best Viewed At - Don’t advertise that you are a beginner.

- No Prices - If you sell something do not expect visitors to waste their time sending email inquiries on your prices. Include a price with the item description.

If you will just pay attention to Uncle Arthur when he talks you won’t make those fatal mistakes.
